Volunteer Opportunities

Would you like to help out?? We have a lot of volunteer opportunities!!!

All you have to do is call us at 618-972-7100 and tell us you want to VOLUNTEER!!

Volunteers are needed for:

Our Channel 5 Spot - you would need to be at Channel 5 by 5:30 AM on a Tuesday morning. You will not be on television, but will supply the animal and necessary information to the Channel 5 staff. You would pick up the dog or cat, take them to the station and return them to the shelter or to their foster home after the event. You should be able to get to work by 7:30 AM even if you work in St. Louis.

Adoption Event Signs - we can always use a person to make our adoption event signs and place them at strategic locations (with permission) advertising our adoption event You would also go back and remove all the signs once the adoption event was completed.

Feed Store Meow Town Cage Duty - we could always use help feeding, clean up the littler pans and general clean up at our Meow Town located within the Waterloo Feed Store.

Shelter Volunteer Duty - there are plenty of things to do at the shelter. Feeding, clean up the littler pans, kennel cleaning, dog walking, dog to human socialization, cat to human socialization, laundry, general clean, etc... all at t the Humane Society of Monroe County shelter.

Event Flier Distribution - this job entails distributing our fliers and placing them on the bulletin boards of stores in and around Monroe County. You would also be responsible to making sure all the fliers are removed after the event.

Adoption Event Volunteer - with this opportunity you would attend our adoption events and help out. This could include holding a dog or cat or answering general questions from the public.

Animal Transportation - we occasionally need someone to transport an animal to one of the veterinarians for treatment or for vaccinations.
